In Remembrance | Ron MacFeeters (1914-2014), Later Life Learning’s Longest Serving Member

By Lynn Wells, LLL Member

ronmacfeeters1It is with sadness, we are announcing the death of Ron McFeeters, a Later Life Learning member from “early years”.

Later Life Learning is a volunteer run organization dedicated since 1982,  to bringing high quality, low cost continuing education to its membership, who are retired individuals, in association with Innis College. Ron attended lectures continuously for almost 30 years.

In November 2014, Ron turned 100.  To celebrate his milestone, long standing LLL member Don McMurray congratulated him on behalf of LLL Executive and members and invited his classmates in Ken Bartlett’s The City States of the Italian Renaissance to share a piece of birthday cake with him during intermission. Dr. Janet Paterson, Principal of Innis College, participated in the ceremony, bringing congratulations from the college. Sadly, Ron suffered a fall a few days later and did not recover.

ronmacfeeters2His presence in Town Hall will be missed by the entire Innis College community.

Ron’s obituary can be found on the Globe & Mail website, here.
