New Student Guide​

Congratulations on your acceptance to Innis College in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto. You’re now part of the welcoming and supportive Innis community that is here for you in so many ways, in class and beyond.

Top 1011 things Innis students should do before Fall 2025

Get ready for your first year by completing these essential tasks before the start of the term.

1. Accept your offer

Make sure to accept your offer by the deadline stated on your offer letter to secure your spot.

2. Secure your residence guarantee

If you’re planning to live in residence, visit StarRez and complete your application by March 31 to retain your residence guarantee.

3. Join "Innis 101" on Quercus

This online learning platform provides crucial information on course enrolment, university transition, and student life. You will be invited to join Innis 101 in May!

4. Get matched with your Insider Peer Mentor

Your Insider mentor is a current student who will guide you through your transition to university, answer your questions, and share helpful advice. You will be automatically enrolled in this program as a part of the Innis community. Look for your first Insider email in June.

5. Attend Innis's Academic Orientation & Welcome

Plan to attend our in-person Academic Orientation & Welcome event in June. Details coming soon!

6. Bookmark three important websites

Stay organized by bookmarking these key resources:

  • Arts & Science Academic Calendar  – Lists programs, courses, and university policies to help you plan your degree
  • Timetable Builder Helps you find courses and create possible class schedules
  • ACORN – The University’s student portal where you can enroll in courses, check fees, and access important info

7. Consider a First-Year Learning Community

Join a First-Year Learning Community (FLC) to connect with peers and gain extra support during your first year.

8. Enrol in Courses

Course enrolment for first-year students opens in mid-July. You’ll be given a start time, on ACORN, a few weeks before that.

9. Sign up for Orientation Week

Kick off your first year by joining Orientation Week on August 25-29, where you’ll meet new friends, explore campus, and get a fun introduction to student life at Innis!

10. Pay your fees on time

Ensure your tuition and other fees are paid by August 12 to avoid any registration issues.

11. Get ready for classes!

Mark your calendars: Fall 2025 classes begin on September 2!

What do you need to succeed in your first year? From academics to student life, there’s a specific Innis 101 module to guide you. We’ll invite you to join Innis 101 shortly after the deadline to accept your admission offer. Then you’ll log in using your JOINid/UTORid.
